Nicholas is a member of Adlegal and supervisor on competition and consumer protection policy. Nicholas has played a key role in developing policy benchmarking strategies, drawing from global legal authorities.

He has also been instrumental in advising on regulator submissions on competition related matters on proposed mergers and acquisitions.

Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Makerere University School of Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

 

Experience:

  1. Was part of the legal team that initiated legal action against Meta over the exclusion of third-party AI chatbots from WhatsApp in the COMESA region.
  2. Participated in filing of Uganda’s first-ever competition complaint against Google, challenging monopolistic practices in the Android ecosystem to create a fair digital market regulation.
  3. Part of the legal team that took action against WhatsApp LLC and Meta over the enforcement of the 2021 WhatsApp data privacy policy in Uganda, citing violations of user rights through forced consent, discrimination against Ugandan users, and excessive data collection.
  4. Part of the the team that sought legal action to block illegal online lending websites and mobile apps hosted by Google, protecting consumers from unregulated and exploitative digital financial services.
  5. Argued a landmark complaint against NBS TV for unlawful split-screen advertising, reinforcing adherence to Uganda’s broadcasting standards.
  6. Part of the Task Force which produced the first Policy Comment Report on Digital Markets Competition Regulation in Uganda in 2025.
