Violation of Advertising Standards

MTN Uganda

We raised significant concerns regarding MTN Uganda’s “Gaga Everyday” promotional campaign advertisement, which depicted a man engaging in sexually suggestive movements across multiple scenes. The advertisement was deeply troubling as it violated Uganda’s moral, social, and cultural standards, causing widespread public discomfort. These actions are strictly prohibited under the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Advertising Standards of 2019.

Following widespread public outcry, MTN Uganda announced the withdrawal of the advertisement on October 11, 2024.

We are privileged to have contributed our voice to this matter and commend Pastor Martin Ssempa for his pivotal role as the whistleblower against the advert.
